This album on Polish museums, compiled under the guidance of Dorota Folga-Januszewska, a distinguished expert on the subject, presents the history, present-day situation, and future prospects of Poland’s museums, focusing on the principal institutions and their collections, their most treasured exhibits, and new ideas in museum development.
The book comprises a series of chapters on different types of museums, written by museum directors and researchers specialising in particular subjects, Antoni Bartosz, Przemysław Mrozowski, Jacek Miler, Paweł Jaskanis, Ewa Wyka, Krzysztof Jakubowski, and Jerzy Litwin.
Two chapters have been contributed by Dorota Folga-Januszewska, who discusses museum issues with Professor Andrzej Rottermund in the book’s introduction. The subjects addressed include the national museums, museums of science and technology, natural history museums, university museums, ethnographic museums, museums in historic residences, and Polish museums abroad.
Numerous illustrations, both contemporary and archival, present the character and collections of Polish museums.
